Princess Smith’s exhibition Unfiltered at Gallery 3 on the Hillsborough Campus of HCC explores experiences of minority women in today's society. Her art explores interrelated concepts of beauty and imperfection, innocence and deviance, struggle and strength. Works such as Filty Rags, Making Up for Lost time and Swing, Swing, Swing highlight social injustices caused by slavery and racism through provocative representations of the body and emotionally charged grandiose paintings, Smith's work is the directness needed in the art world.
